That song is so good! Vflower has so many great songs.
This is from Teniwoha the same producer of Villain (you probably heard it already it is really popular), but they also made this song that is a lot less talked about.
While Villain talks more about transness in general, I think this songs depicts more the struggle of nonbinary people specifically.
(This is not the official video, it`s an english sub one, this is the original 一角獣 / flower ・てにをは (Unicorn / flower・teniwoha
About my Touhou headcanon, one day I will unleash them I promise, but not today (it is really late where I live right now :p).
Woah what a song! What a beautiful character! I shall be playing this on repeat for a lil bit.
I feel the attitude of the song so much. You will never fit an expected category, there is no hiding, so you might as well be a dazzling unicorn
Burn bright and with bravado to ward off those who want to sweep you into a binary box
Stand tall and confident clad in the armour of beautiful clothes, I am a unicorn now!
Very catchy tune, very cute animation too, its sad to see the characters are only accepted when performing their agab, and their transition goals remain only a dream, but I like how at the end they take comfort and solidarity in each other. We are all in this together
Also naturally I love the showcase of all the different outfits, they slay them so hard
oh yeah, i’ve had the same thoughts on B-Boy whenever it comes up on rotation.
the vocaloidP and cover discussion reminded me of a vtuber, actually. (and before i get to that, 3/THREE/howeverthenameisromanized and teniwoha are super good ones yes big agree)
Ryushen, or Sengawa Midori though i’ve never seen that name used outside the wiki and website listings,
and i’m taking a random solo cover rather than any in specific,
is gender unspecified. this is rather interesting not just among vtubers who debuted 4+ years ago, (wow they debuted 2 0 1 6 what the heck) but Nijisanji which they’re under is also a corporation and has had some issues on the non-Japanese branches later in time with handling nonbinary identities.
being nonbinary is also rather contrary to idol culture as i understand it, and though i’m sure being established early helps with that being more normal, they’re still one of the few corporate nonbinary streamers in this strange space, and that’s pretty neat.
Telecaster B-boy is really good, there are so many animation made with it because it's just so catchy
This is my favorite I have seen, the character is Mizuki from Project SEKAI (I already talked about them somewhere here, but don't remember where).
Honestly Mizuki is probably my biggest enby inspiration, I love how feminine they are.
Also because we are now sharing our favorite “gender songs” I guess I'll drop mine.
This is id smile. This is not the original again, just a really good english cover.
To me it always felt like someone that fears telling their friends they are trans, and hopes that no matter what, things could stay the same between them no matter how much they might end up changing.
Also a Vocaloid/UTAU thingy
Coming back to the song I shared before, this is an UTAU cover I made of it if anyone wants to listen to it, Unicorn Hoshisuisyo.wav (It gets kind of choppy by the end, I never finished it).
Fun fact - synth voices like Vocaloid and UTAU have something called flags (I think they are called flags in Vocaloid too but idk), that are basically parameters you can use to change the voice at its core.
One of them is gender! That makes it sound more feminine or masculine and it's really useful. In this song for example, I had gender pretty high cause I was going for a more androgynous sound.
I also found a cover of Telecaster B-boy I made a while ago, but it is really not good so I`ll spare you all from it :p).
These are really good! Has made me go looking through Mizuki’s wiki page to learn more about them and gosh they seem so cool! Great pick for enby inspiration, I’m finding myself very drawn to them too.
It’s really fun reading about the character connections and interactions in this game, I feel myself possibly falling into a fixation on it
I read the book recently (they had it at the UU lending library, right next to A Psalm for the Wild Built). Fair warning: prepare to cry at the end if you watch the full film.
A kinda off brand pick but Moxi, who appears in a lot of videos by Symor, a very well known vrchat youtuber
They’re a straight cis guy as far as I know, but he pretty much always has this Kagamine Rin avatar, and hearing his very masculine voice come from that body is weirdly fitting and just verrry gender to me
Wouldn’t you know it while digging through my horrifically disorganized art stash for Kris pics I stumbled across the artist! They have lots more pieces with gender fits like that one I really recommend taking a look through em https://x.com/_stoonn/media
i just wanna say, most of the kris fanart i find doesn't land bc of the whole hair-over-eyes thing (complicated to explain but [1], but this and the ones like it are fabulous.
basically it just feels pointless and overlaps with the character space of really self inserty protag which i get is technically the kind of thing undertale/deltarune are going for idk i just don't enjoy the vibe fsr ↩︎
Oooooo the best artist for Ryougi Shiki (@egoshiki, moderate nsfw warning) keeps knocking it out of the park! She’s the protagonist of the Type Moon franchise Kara no Kyoukai and also my Melty Blood main. Canonically had a split personality with a male and female half for a good chunk of the story fwiw. I love the bags this artist draws under her eyes so much. High chance I start using this artist’s works for pfps.
