It’s David Byrne’s birthday time to listen to some talking head
another music dump since i was going through things for What video describes you best? and was on a big music kick (as per usual)
(also)
these are very good arguments for joining the cult, all super well done
Yessss i love that IDK HOW song
This song its insane!
When I find myself liking this type of hyperpop-y songs I always wonder if something in my head just snapped that made me liked them know what I mean?
Its a cacophony of sounds with a voice as robotic as a microwave, but somehow my mind is like "Yeah, I love this".
Also I search it on bandcamp and the desc. was so funny lol

oh 100%, it's pretty funny how a specific mash of chaotic sounds is what my brain finds as comfortable music
I’ve been listening to some Kero Kero Bonito lately, and I’ve been enjoying them a lot.
I’ve only listened to Time n’ Place and Intro Bonito so far, but I’ve already gotten Intro Bonito on cassette (I’m part of a nearly extinct species of weird cassette people.)
A note on one of the songs on Time n’ Place, Only Acting (my favorite on the album): it kinda feels to me like going through the ordeal of masking and feeling the strain that comes along with it and breaking down because of it. It expresses my feelings about masking in a clear way that I haven’t felt before, even though I’m pretty sure that’s not what the song is supposed to be about.
Great band, sorry for the tangent, I’m new to this whole place and I don’t really know the etiquette yet.
I’ve been doing this think since 2022 where I create a playlist for the year, so far: 2022, 2023, 2024. And at the end of each month deciding on a song that somehow encapsulates the month for me personally. Often times it will be one of my most listened to songs that month but it’s very much a vibes based thing. At the end of the year I decide on a song that encapsulates the year, so far in both 2022 and 2023 it wasn’t a song that made song of the month for any month but was a song I listened to over the course of the year. Here are the playlists (though it might be difficult to view them if you don’t have spotify so I’ll list the songs as well):

Obviously 2024 isn’t completed but I plan on continuing this for a while, I’ve thought about burning them onto discs with some art I made each year put on them, then have the year and each song sith their month listed, would be a fun little project. It was nice typing this out, reminding me of the past bit of time. I encourage other people to do this sort of thing, it’s not much effort and being able to look back is cool!
Oh yeah, Ghost`s stuff is sooooo good!
This is another banger of them.
(Also I would recommend Appetite of a people pleaser, but the lyrics are a bit too heavy…)
Oh frick yeah GHOST is good
Recently it has only been listening to the April Fool’s songs but yeah
Also End-World Normapothy
since @Cheryl_Marill posted a (what i presume is) Utau project on Butcher Vanity, i have been reminded also that this is an incredible bop and needs to be shared with the MV so everyone else can appreciate cannibal vocal synth goodness. is “cannibal” acceptable gender goals? hmmmmm
Woah that’s darn good
Ace kind of wants to learn UTAU since a vocaloid 6 license is £260
It doesn’t want to learn it to make music though
It wants to learn it to make stupid shitposts
I could always give Ace a small tutorial on the basics if it wants :p (especially if the objective is creating shitpost as thats far easier)
acloudyskye!!! all of his music is so vibey
from sad+uplifting to rhythmic to an entire album I cannot describe
tangent 1: live event
I recently went to an event where he performed a short set and it was amazing!! The recording of his part isn’t on youtube yet so here’s the song he played with cash when switching in:
https://youtu.be/Tbyw_Cw6v98?t=904
I really love the way he ties in the music to his characters and ongoing vague lore. Some album covers and pictures from the live event that show this:
tangent 2: beat saber / vr
I originally found his music from a really beautiful beat saber map by Swifter! It’s been over a year since then, and now that I have a VR headset it’s been awesome being able to play these maps myself.
He’s also made a VRChat world which I mentioned over in that thread: https://a-lilian-garden.discourse.group/t/vrchat-worlds-and-avatars/844/4?u=five
video showcase: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efFjC995RDM
from the kero kero bonito mention above I’ve been reminded of Well Rested:
I have making a visual sort of thing for it on my project list, but considering how many other things I want to do (and that I haven’t touched after effects even once) it probably won’t happen for a while…
Ace generally doesn’t like screaming in music but it has recently been listening to this

(also I use this opportunity to show my favorite song by them)
