i was going to swing by a used book/CD place nearby, but it's kinda no longer existing. anyone got some recommendations for stuff with good basslines? i'd like to properly spend time on practicing, but surprisingly not that much of the stuff i listen to makes for good copy material. like, legitimately, all that's coming to mind is ZTMY's stuff, or mayyybe something from KagePro. (i also kinda forgot to grab the bits of tabs i did have from the other drive, so i forget what else i had saved up lmao)
but yeah. classics, recent hits, esoteric tracks, anything works. just not something i've deliberately looked for before now.
I think that some tracks from the ToeJam and Earl OST could be pretty fun. Take your pick, honestly. Toejam Jammin', Rapmaster Rocket Racket, and Alien Break Down are favorites.
Related! For more genesis tunes, there's Sonic Spinball's classic Toxic Caves
Less related, the exams track from Persona 3 also has a prominent bass that makes me think of sonic spinball.
I found the original version of June by Kara’s Walk Home and I love it just as much as the band version the links and downloads are gone but there are archives! fair warning the mixing in this is kinda wonk so don’t turn your volume up if it seems a little quiet at first.,.
as much as I love this version it makes me feel kinda lonely listening to it because among all of the reuploads they are like 900 - 1200 views combined
Old* "bad" music getting popular again on short formats.
I don't know if it is a right place for it post but I absolutely recommend the music below so I guess close enough
By "bad" I mean not regarded with the most of respect in the general public opinion at the time of first popularity. The popular but but associated with poor taste or lack of production values type.
Maybe it is just a cycle of trends
Maybe enough time passed to see good music for what it is, without it "cringe" connotation [1]
Maybe it is just my algorithm XD
Btw I not talking with videos that visibly mimicking the style of the era the music is from
