Music Recommendations

I’ve really been obsessed with Maria Cross lately! i wish there was any good English speaking info on the pronouns that Maria uses, but there is scant info on Maria even in Japanese it seems…

While I am also part of the “too many songs to list all the ones that I want” club, I could list a couple I’ve really liked over the years.

First of all the artist Lockyn, more specifically their song volt, pretty much started the foundation for my entire music taste going forwards in life.

Although Lockyn has several amazing tracks I recomend checking out, I have probably listened to this song over a thousand times over the years, primarily using it for meditation every night, it sounds silly typing it out now but it will always be my personal favorite.

Another artist I’ve long listened to is Carpenter Brut, with my specific favourite being Le Perv, and most of the TRILOGY album in general.

There’s something about the intensity of his songs that I’ve never felt in other music, so it can be pretty nice I need some inspiration.

Another artist from my youth is Sung, he’s still extremely underrated for making such good music, I remember when I was little listening to overizer and it setting something off on how I looked at the world.

An artist that defined a major shift in my music doctrine is Peppsen! I discovered them through the rimworld modding scene, but the track that still sticks out the most is called Belts go Brrrr, which has no right being as good as it is.

Another artist I discovered that I really came to like was Sakuzyo, I would listen to their themes for hours on end imagining all sorts of action scenarios, stories, and setups. Their song that stood out the most is called Axion.

Mostly a song now than an artist, but a song that is hard to peak in its climaxsticism would be Ether Strike, its hard to put into words, but when the music jumps into overdrive its extremely hard not to flow to the music.

Another artist I’ll never forget is Meganeko, another one that I mostly listened to when I was younger, but that really struck to me over time as well. My favorite song from them still stands as Space Magic, its really hard to peak.

From here on I kinda stopped actively listening to music for a long while, that is until youtube suddenly dropped a nuke on my feed called CITRUS! This song pretty much started a chain reaction that lead to a sort of mental renaissance, its just SO FJUKING COOL!

From here I got wombo comboed by youtube with the appearance of another artist called EX-LYD. I’m not sure I can really explain why I found this artist’s stuff so great, so I’ll just put forwards my favorite song from them, but it can be safe to say that they’re the main reason I started using exclamation points!

Now I’m not sure why, but youtube decided to deliver the final blow with a song called “credits song for my death but im the final boss.” Very cheesy name indeed, but it both holds such a strange sense of nostalgia and goes so extremely hard, that I can only describe it as peak.

Finally, my latest musical obsession comes in the form of the artist known as heaven pierce her (or Hakita) which essentially just contains the OST for the game known as Ultrakill. My absolutely favorite song from them is called “Hear! The Siren Song Call of Death”, I never understood the appeal for melancholic music until I heard it.

Well then, this list when on for way longer than planned, I’ve just spent the last one and a half hours trying to decide what to include and what to not, of course I still left a lot of individual songs and a couple of artists out.

For some reason I’ve found people like asking what genre of music I like, the truth is I have no idea. I’ve never been able to individually name the genres that almost my entire playlists contain, but the truth is, I think its neat how much music escapes categorization.

Ah ah, I almost forgot to mention my childhood friend Cami! They’ve started posting music around a year ago, and they make some incredibly good stuff!

I’ve been listening to a lot of this guy’s stuff. It’s mostly taking the wild wild west and mixing in a bit of hip hop and blues.

Also, speaking of vtubers:

Also, there’s a reason Juna Unagi is my oshi. Toxic is one of my favorite songs ever, second to Fancy by Reba McEntire.

hank steel the real queer cowboy

another couple vocal synth producers i enjoy a lot: CircusP and Vane Lily

circus put out a massive bundle of albums called CMYK from 4 smaller albums, and that’s one i listen through in full a lot of the days i commute in since the timing lines up really well for me. there’s a ton of care and passion put into each track, and while i have my favorites from each section, the way it ends on Better Off Worse is just perfect.

Vane Lily has a number of good ones to recommend as well, but i’ll drop 2 here:

(vane actually joined a music circle recently to make food-themed songs, and BUTCHER VANITY slaps)

Hey, I am a musician I have a live show tonight (ngl this is SCARY) I put out an hour long album I think its rather good its an hour long, I recommend the songs “blueberry soda” “**** if I know” and “game over boomer” I would love feedback or like just let me know what you like or hate. Sharing art is somewhat hard and scary but so is playing live and I think my stuff is somewhat good and I hope yall like it too.

ALSO if any artists hear my music and like want to steal it go ahead and like use my art to make your art and just send me the cool shit you made with it eventually. Like make stuff first and foremost, I would eventually love to see what you made eventually but like yeah no make cool stuff please

The album itself is all me there is nobody else playing anything on it, I made it all in garage band and I am trying my best to make good sounds because all of my friends are amazing musicians and I am just trying to catch up. The album is also a communal art project where I get a lot of my friends to put their art on my soundcloud so you all have pretty pictures to look at,

I will also attach some of the new songs I made for my live set tonight which is also really fun and scary. (second thought the links are being weird so the new songs are just the most recently released songs on the soundcloud, also i will eventually put my stuff on spotify once I get enough listeners on soundcloud to justify it in my stupid head)

please listen if you can I hope you like my art

For me, I always seem to come back to Contemporary Movement by Duster mostly because I listened to it at the right time and circumstances for me

Was not expecting to see maidcore in this forum! Great album choice as well. If I was better at guitar, I would 100% play In Affliction or Radiostalking

This album by David Sylvian has to be one of my favourite of all time. It’s got elements of jazz, hip-hop, rock, soul, folk, ambient, and more. For songs, I Surrender is excellent, passionate jazz, Midnight Sun makes me feel cool, and Krishna Blue is smooth and sensual. Give it a listen!
