I was scrolling through Youtube until stumbling into this.
i haven’t listened to this song in so long… it’s scary how much I still relate to it…
I still feel like I am “cosplaying” as myself when I wear a hat or do anything that is not wear a normal black shirt and jeans… It’s hard to explain, but this song does it so flawlessly…
I firmly believe Dances Moving to be bdg’s magnum opus. It’s a musical series he released shortly before doing Unraveled with Polygon. I strongly encourage you to watch it all the way through.
EDIT: I almost said something about bdg releasing this series in August and then sending his application to Polygon in September was critical context for understanding the series but didn’t want to overstate my case. But I’m rewatching it now and uhh hey, here’s a screencap from episode one.
I find it to be nostalgic for me because it was always used as background music for a radio program that I used to listen at when I was younger but sadly isn’t aired anymore. I instantly recognized it when I heard it in NFS Rivals, and I could find the name of the song thanks to that game (when a song starts playing its title and artist show up for a few seconds).
From the same artist there’s also The City which I also loved, this time from NFS Most Wanted 2012 and Icarus, which I heard for the first time in a racing game stream on Twitch where the viewers could donate to choose the songs playing in the stream’s background.
Linking this 90s-inspired music mix I just discovered because HOLY SHIT DID IT MAKE ME GROOVE~ > V< 7 \ \ (And I rarely do, that’s how one knows it’s good XD)
(Live footage of me dancing to this absolute banger of a mix real)
this is a hard question to answer, we have varied tastes as system members and none of it is stuff we’d necessarily recommend unless someone had already indicated they were into a style we liked . . . but as a sampling
we listen to a lot of sad metal, for a good feeling of what we mean by that check out Annual Winter Depression, or Togetherness, or Aeon Rains - honestly we fell in love with this kind of gloomy depressive music because it feels rather familiar. we’ve had depression and anxiety since our teenage years, it’s kind of comforting in a way to find music that brings up those feelings, shows we’re not alone in having them, and then reminds us that those feelings don’t have to stop us. there’s a lot of movement and energy - even in the saddest songs - and often that helps us keep going
anyways to be a bit less pretentious for a moment, in terms of more upbeat music we rather like Jamie Paige (particularly her Bittersweet album, Asemic Speech is fantastic) and also Stessie (our recommendations from them would be Free and Are you There)
and then as a final recommendation, we’ve been listening to I Let It In And It Took Everything kind of on repeat for a few weeks, as one of our partners took us to a Loathe concert and we really liked it. check out “Is it Really You” from that album if you like rock ballads, it’s good
