I'm historically quite fond of Back to the future trilogy and the pirates of the caribbean trilogy. But honestly, i don't watch that much movies these days. My list should probably change by now but I've never pondered it deeply.
mm. Hail Mary is probably up there now. I think i could consider that my favorite now.

i love Inland Empire. probably the scariest movie i've ever seen, it felt like a nightmare i couldn't wake up from. it's nonlinear and "understanding" The Plot itself may be hard, you just have to Feel it. that's the most important part.
it's so good! i think it shaped my taste in movies lol
i hope i get to see it in a cinema someday

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
Nuclear bombs are pretty funny, so this movie appeals to me. It's widely considered one of the most influential films of all time and scared the American army guys into putting a disclaimer at the start of the film. Don't worry about it!

- Into the Spiderverse and Across The Spiderverse [I've been repeatedly saying that Beyond The Spiderverse will be the last animated theatrical release that matters to me, for the near term future. With the state of the industry, I genuinely don't see anything coming out any time soon that will come close. Indie, I suppose, is the best we have]
- The Breakfast Club

Something about The Breakfast Club always felt somewhat idyllic to me. The concept of having people who you honestly could care less about stuck in a room with you and you don't kill each other, but instead manage to find some common ground and even make new friends... It's what I wish would emerge out of more scenarios. It's a bit of an anti-anxiety that's always playing in the back of my mind when I find myself apprehensive about a social scenario, but most of the time people have their guard up and I can't make a Suprise Friend.
Still, the directing and camera work are both rock solid in the movie, haven't really aged a day. And the story, though a bit mired in old cliques, still holds up today I think.

I've met lots of people who were initially loud and annoying, but were actually really cool to talk to one-on-one. Sometimes people surprise you

Ppl are complicated and may do some things that frustrate us but if the joy outweighs the frustration thats epic

my favorite movie of all time is holes (2003). it is so well written. maybe it's just nostalgia, but it has remained my favorite movie for decades at this point. the way all of the characters have heart, the way all of the plot threads weave together, the hope that it instills in the midst of great sadness and despair and unfairness. so good, so good. the scene at the end with the rain? absolutely iconic.
i genuinely love conqueror of shamballa. i remember watching it for the first time. i thought it was so goddamn cool and a great bittersweet end to the series.[1]
same here, it was such a good movie. amazing picks in this thread. 
i know my opinion is unpopular, but i always liked fma03 better than brotherhood. they felt like they were entirely different genres, and 03 was just more suited to my personal tastes. they're both great! ↩︎
