Cool maps

I love this map! Something about seeing the world upside-down is so intriguing to me. It looks so different, yet it’s the same planet. Since there’s no up and down in space, in an alternate history we could’ve very well all been using this map.

Alas, the first world countries happened to have developed north so they needed to be on top.

A few thoughts of “this thread = neat”

This thread has a host of cool maps! I enjoyed learning about Rogaining, @slow_math; sounds like a good time. I especially liked your descriptions of team dynamics in this context (and the chill social time after). Slime mould computing is a very neat concept @listennui; I, too, am curious about the possible untapped potential of biological computing (/genuine).

It’s so lovely to see (so many!) descriptions and explanations of what y’all are passionate about (!!)

Tunic

I just started Tunic today! It’s been very fun. I picked it up on the Switch during a recent sale after seeing you recommend it here. I had popped it on my Steam wishlist years ago; thanks for the extra nudge!

A few online maps

I’ll throw in a few neat maps that I’ve come across.

A real-time (I think) visualisation of different environmental / weather {phenomena? things?} on Earth:

A map of all the internet radio stations across the world! You can bounce around and surf the continents checking out what’s playing right now:

I’m a history nerd, so I was going to do like a big ramble thingy about how Eurocentrism and Imperialism bad, but then I realized I don’t have the energy in me for it rn, and you all probably know that already.

So here’s this cool Mercator from 1569 with Rhumb Lines that I found on wikipedia!
