12/30/2025: It's that day where you think it's new year's eve, but then it turns out it isn't. I want to be more constant with the regular crossword, but at least Wordle/Connections/Mini is still a good routine.

12/31/2025: Happy new year's eve, garden! One of my two new year's resolutions is to try and keep a year-long streak in my newspaper games - hopefully that means all of them? The regular crossword can still be really difficult to complete in a reasonable amount of time, and sadly Connections is the one I keep failing at every few days, but I know for a fact I can at least do Wordle and the Mini every day.

Maybe it's because it's a Thrusday, but the newspaper games were kind of brutal today. I am not a fan of rebus puzzles! And I nearly failed the Wordle. That would've been an unfortunate start to the year!

01/02/2026: Stressful morning unfortunately, on account of many things to do and some sadness and conflict. I drew the tarot deck on new years and got The Fool, Three of Pentacles, The Hanged man Reversed, and The Devil, so at least part of that is coming true right away. Also, I have a tummy ache - and worst of all! Today's wordle was a double letter day.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I am very against wordles with repeated letters, less so repeated vowels. I think it means there's a chance of being punished for being right - choosing to try a double-letter word means using one of your 5 chances on a coin-flip to see if one of the letters you already have is someplace else in the word - it just feels like it defeats the purpose of the puzzle, especially since there's no way to know whether a word will have a double letter or not.

Incidentally, I just found out that the way I play Wordle is considered a self-imposed challenge (Once I get a green, I only use words that fit the green letters, rather than trying out other words that don't have them to scout out letters I don't have); which is just amusing to me, since it feels like the most optimal way to narrow down your choices.

Wordle rant over; On the other hand, Connections was fun, and both the Mini and Crossword today were great fun as well. Today's crossword felt a bit more difficult than normal, but I tend to struggle on Fridays anyways. Bracing for the weekend crosswords! I predict there might be Mechanics as usual.

Side note: Isn't it weird that the mobile version of the newspaper games say "You solved a [day] Puzzle" while the web version says "You solved a [day] Crossword"? Wonder why that is.
